About Deb

Experienced

Thank you for considering Deb Levesque Massage Therapy for your health needs. My first exposure to massage therapy was when I was in school for Athletic Training at Bridgewater State. The class focused on basic Swedish massage techniques for the legs and arms. Even though the class was only a few hours long, I was hooked. I knew that I wanted massage to be part of my professional career.

Since 2001, I have provided professional massage services to help improve the mental and physical health of my clients. My services are perfect for anyone who wishes to enhance their current health, relieve pain and stress, or recover from illness or injury.

I offer several types of massage treatments to help you relax & relieve stress, decrease muscle aches & pains, and re-balance your energy. Massage therapy can be integrated with conventional medical therapy (like physical therapy or chiropractic care) to achieve optimal physical and mental health.

What makes me different from other therapists? I use a combination of massage techniques during your treatment. For example, I may use deep tissue work your neck, and relaxing Swedish massage to your back. Your session will be specifically tailored to your needs. A specific home care program that includes stretches, body awareness and/or exercises might be given to you. Following the home care program will help to enhance the massage treatment and help you to control your pain.

My experience as an athletic trainer gives me an understanding of a variety of injuries. Confidential progress notes are written after each visit and if needed, I can provide private consultation with your medical professional.

Training and Qualifications

I graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1994 with a B.S. in Physical Education and a Concentration in Athletic Training. I began working as the Athletic Trainer for Wareham High School in the Fall of 1994.  During the summers of 2000-2005 I was the Athletic Trainer for the Wareham Gatemen, a baseball team in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

In 2001, I graduated from the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy in Worcester, Mass. with a Certification in Massage Therapy. I received training in Swedish massage (the Lafleur Method), deep tissue, myofascial release, and Sports massage.

In May 2005, I resigned from my Athletic Training job at Wareham High, to focus solely on massage therapy.

I attend continuing education classes each year for both Athletic Training and Massage Therapy.  Most recently, I have been studying SRT, Structural Relief Therapy with Taya Countryman.  It is an amazing technique and so are the results!!!   My clients are feeling better quicker.  It truly has been the best technique I have added to my toolbox.  Do you need to ask for SRT specifically?  NOPE.  I have been mixing it in with my massage as needed.  I took my first SRT course in March 2015, and since then have completed all seven training modules in the series: twice!  In June 2016, I traveled out to the Seattle, WA area to train with Taya, in a small group setting that included other advanced SRT therapists.  It was a great experience to learn from other practitioners of SRT.

I have taken other courses over the years that I used regularly with clients.  Here is a list of my favorites:  Myofascial Release as taught by Bob King (2004 & 2005); Active Isolated Stretch (AIS) as taught by Aaron Mattes (2005) and Marjorie Brook (2011); Orthopedic & Sports Massage as taught by James Waslaski (2009 & 2010).

Practice What You Preach

I not only educate my clients on the benefits of massage therapy, a healthy diet and good exercise habits, I set an example to do the same. Personally, I receive 3-4 massages per month by different local therapists. I block time daily, to workout at the Gleason YMCA. You can find me swimming, running or taking Lu’s noon 30-minute X-press class.

I also teach three classes a week at the Gleason Family Y.  You are welcome to join us!

  • AIS on Monday’s from 8:30AM-9:30AM
  • Indoor Cycling/Weights class on Tuesdays & Thursdays from Noon-1PM

Below are some pictures of my races over the past few years.

The STUFF I use for workouts and life:

Generation UCAN.  This company and their products have been a great find for me.  I use their UCAN hydrate as my electrolyte replacement drink of choice.  It has no cane sugar and I love the taste.  I began using it in 2016 and I’m not sick of the taste yet.  The SUPER-STARCH product is my fuel of choice for training and racing.  It digests easily and I have no upset stomach worries.  My favorite is the lemon.  Sometimes, just to be crazy, I mix lemon and the cocoa delight. Yummy.

AXIO by LifeVantage.   This is my Caffeine drink of choice.  It contains 100mg of caffeine.  Need I say more?  They have several flavors, but I’m on a Sour Cherry kick at the moment.  They also have a ‘decaf’ version that was created to help you have focus and clarity without the extra caffeine.  Neither version has any cane sugar added to it.
