It has arrived!!! No, I am not talking about Labor Day. (You have to admit, it was great to have such a wonderful long weekend). I am talking about the first holiday gift magazine.
Yup.
It’s here.
Arrived at my house.
SEPTEMBER 1.
You read that correctly. SEPTEMBER 1.
So far, The Lakeside Collection — Holiday 2015, is ahead of all their competitors. Initially, I had thought to just toss it in the recycle bin. It’s still 90’ out, why do I want look at Holiday gifts?
But, I did. I ended up going through it, cover to cover. WHY?
1. Because I was outside watching the dog play. What else did I have to do, in between ball tosses?
2. Because it was better than reading the bill that came in the mail.
3. Because I was curious.
Strange as it may seem, I actually got a few ideas for gifts. This year, I just might be that person that declares “I have all my Christmas and Holiday shopping done. And only 3 more to wrap!” (And it’s October 7).
Totally KIDDING on that one….since I really just want to roll my eyes at those people vs. smiling and saying “oh, good for you!”.
But, it has made me think about getting a few things early. Get it when you see it! My Mom used to have me try something on in July when she saw it, made sure it fit, and I didn’t see it again until Christmas morning!
So this is what I’ve got done on my list so far.
1. Knit head wraps – this will be great for our family swap. One size fits all. And they’re cute.
2. Flame coloring pine cones – my nephews love these things. Who doesn’t like to throw stuff into the fire?
3. Here’s a good one, the “Pass the Gas game”, it’s played like hot potato and when time is up, the one left holding the fart is out. – Perfect for my 13 year old godson and his brother.
4. And for the massage office, breath mints. Wintergreen and Peppermint flavored; made from Elf and Snowman poop, respectively.
I did find a few other items. I also found things that were a “why would anyone want that?”. You can check it out for yourself when you get your own catalog in the mail.

hoping the humidity will go down,
wondering how many more beach days you can fit in?
